About Our Young Eagles Events

Young Eagles flights introduce youth (ages 8–17) to general aviation through a short, inspiring airplane ride with a volunteer pilot. Events are led by EAA Chapter 14 volunteers and include safety briefings, ground activities, and time to meet pilots and ask questions.

Our goal is to make the day smooth, safe, and memorable—whether it’s your first time at the airport or you’re already dreaming of a license. Priority for flights is given to first-time Young Eagles, and flights depend on weather and pilot availability.

Quick Facts

Custom Events & Group Flights

In addition to our public Young Eagles Days, we’re happy to coordinate special experiences for groups. If you’re planning an educational or milestone event, we can tailor the day around your goals and schedule.

Great for:

  • Scouts (Aviation merit activities)
  • School field trips & STEM clubs
  • Civil Air Patrol (CAP) units
  • Birthdays & milestones
  • Homeschool groups & youth programs

What we can arrange:

  • Short orientation flights (weather/pilot availability permitting)
  • Safety briefings and Q&A with pilots
  • Static aircraft walk-arounds / photo opportunities
  • Hands-on ground activities and aviation demos

Note: Lead time helps us coordinate pilots, ramp access, and facilities. We’ll confirm details after a quick discussion about size, ages, and goals.

Safety, Requirements & What to Bring

Requirements

  • Ages 8–17 for Young Eagles flights
  • Parent/guardian present to sign the waiver
  • Closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing
  • Arrive early for registration and safety briefing

Safety First

Flights are conducted by qualified volunteer pilots in general-aviation aircraft. Weather and pilot availability determine flight operations on event day. If conditions aren’t safe, we’ll focus on ground activities or work to reschedule.

Volunteers & Pilots

We’re always grateful for volunteers—on the ramp, at registration, and sharing aviation stories. If you’re a certified pilot interested in flying Young Eagles, we’d love to meet you.
