Eagles Flights — Mentor-Pilot Experiences for Adults

For Adults 18+

Eagles Flights — Learn to Fly with a Mentor Pilot

Eagles Flights pair adults (ages 18+) with a mentor pilot for a personal introduction to general aviation. Whether you’re exploring flight training, returning to flying, or simply curious, an Eagles experience can help you take the next step.

Who It’s For

The Eagles program is designed for adults interested in aviation—prospective student pilots, lapsed pilots thinking about returning, educators, community leaders, or anyone who wants a thoughtful introduction to flying.

Each Eagles Flight is centered on your goals: understanding the path to a pilot certificate, sitting up front to see how pilots plan and fly, or just getting oriented with aircraft, airports, and safety.

Quick Facts

  • Age: 18+
  • Format: One-on-one with a mentor pilot
  • Location: Brown Field (KSDM), San Diego
  • Focus: Pathways to training, safety, next steps
  • Scheduling: By appointment (based on pilot availability & weather)

How an Eagles Flight Works

1) Tell Us Your Goals

Share what you’re aiming to do—earn a private certificate, refresh skills, or simply learn what’s involved. We’ll match you with a mentor pilot who fits your interests.

2) Meet Your Mentor Pilot

Your pilot will walk you through aircraft basics, planning tools, local procedures, and how safety decisions are made before every flight.

3) Orientation Flight (As Conditions Allow)

Weather and aircraft availability permitting, you may take a short orientation flight focused on learning and next steps—not just sightseeing.

4) Next-Step Planning

Your mentor can outline training options, local schools and clubs, budgeting/time commitments, and study resources to keep your momentum.

5) Safety First

Eagles Flights follow the same safety mindset as any general-aviation operation. If the weather or other factors aren’t right, we’ll focus on ground learning and try again.

Tip Bring questions—training paths, medicals, costs, time, and gear. Your pilot’s been there.

Scheduling & Availability

Eagles sessions are scheduled individually based on pilot availability, aircraft, and weather. We can often meet on a weekend morning at Brown Field, with weekday options by request.

Use the button below to introduce yourself and propose a few dates—our coordinators will confirm details and pair you with a mentor.

What to Bring

  • Government-issued photo ID (adults)
  • Closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing
  • Notebook, questions, and curiosity
  • If you’re returning to flying: any previous logbook/records (optional)

Readiness & Expectations

Eagles is an introduction—not formal instruction—but you’ll get a practical sense of training, time, and cost. If you decide to pursue a certificate, your mentor can suggest local schools and study materials to get started.
